How they work:
Because the AfterShokz Aeropex – Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones don’t use speakers like regular headphones, which transmit sound vibrations through the air, you will get a different experience, as the headphones use patented bone conduction.
This means that transducers send vibrations through the cheekbones so that the sound is delivered directly into the inner ear and bypasses the eardrum, bone conduction headphones are nothing like normal headphones because while you are listening to music, you also are still connected to your surroundings.
This makes them safer to use when you are out and about, or you are using them at home when you have children, you will still be aware of things like cars coming, babies crying, you won’t miss anything that might compromise your safety (or miss any parcels being delivered to your door! )
Comfort:
Unlike many headphones, AfterShockz have an open ear design, many headphones or ear buds can be painful to wear, especially when using them for longer periods, these headphones are very lightweight, and as they are not worn directly in or over the ears, they are super comfortable and secure, with the band around the back of the head keeping them in place.
You can spend longer out on your jog listening to your favourite tunes, or relaxing at home with a good audio book, without discomfort, they also weigh just 26 grams so they won’t weigh you down at all.
Battery life:
The AfterShockz give you a decent battery life, you can get up to 8 hours of listening from one charge with these wireless Bluetooth headphones, whether listening to music, podcasts or calls,
Waterproof:
These headphones are ideal for sports, they are waterproof and your ear canal can stay clean and dry while you are sweating, this makes them more hygienic, although they are not suitable for wearing while swimming, they can withstand being in in the rain if you are exercising outdoors.
Sound:
The sound quality you can expect from the AfterShokz Aeropex – Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones is very clear, and you get 50 % less sound leakage than regular headphones, they give out a good bass range, and less vibration. All in all, very nice sound quality.
The headphones have a handy multifunction button which is very easy to use, which allows you to answer calls, activate voice assistant, and skip tracks, pause, and play, so what ever you are doing, you can control your music and manage your calls just by tapping on the button.
What’s included:
Aeropex Headphones
Silicone carrying case
The silicone case keeps the headphone safe and secure, and closes magnetically.
Magnetic charging cables (2)
Having 2 pairs of cables is always handy, so you always have a spare, also these cables are able to detect any moisture that may get in between the charging jack, and will alert the user if this happens.
Ear plugs
The ear plugs included can be used if you want to block out external noises.
As with any product there are always pros and cons, and the AfterShokz Aeropex – Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones are no exception so we are going to take a look at the good and bad points based on reviews from the people who have purchased these bone conduction headphones.
Pros and cons:
Pros:
One of the best things about the AfterShokz Aeropex – Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones, is the fact that when you are using them for sports and sweating a lot, you are never going to get uncomfortable feeling in your ear canal which can get wet and itchy as you can get with ear buds, which can also get loose in the ears when they get wet.
The fit of the headphones is also important, and these bone conduction headphones fit really snug and comfortably while being worn, the head band goes around the back of the head, and the headphones sit between the cheek and ear. They feel secure while running and exercise, while your ears are not covered at all.
If you need to be still aware of noises going on around you while you are listening to your music, you can stay out of danger if there are cars coming your way. This is also handy if you have kids at home and you don’t want to switch of external noises completely.
Cons:
Although the sound quality is good, it might not be audiophile standard, and some people have said that if the volume is high, it can cause some vibration which might be a little irritating.
Anyone with long hair may not be able to get a good fit with these bone conduction headphones, which will affect the sound, as there won’t be full contact with the cheek bone.
Verdict:
We think that the AfterShokz Aeropex – Open-Ear Bluetooth Bone Conduction Sport Headphones are absolutely worth taking a look at, especially if you need some good headphones for sports. They are lightweight and comfortable which is ideal for running or sports and give you a good amount of battery time of up to 8 hours.
They are waterproof so there can withstand wet weather and sweat, they are lightweight, and the fit is secure and super comfortable which is exactly what you want with sports headphones. They are not cheapest bone conduction headphones you can buy, but the quality is very impressive, we think that they are definitely worth the money for what you get.
